v Role play scenarios to help students understand the Golden Rule: Encountering a homeless man on the street, a fellow classmate without toys or friends, a sibling who doesn’t feel well, etc.
v Create a COLLAGE showing Random Acts of Kindness and encourage students to perform random acts of kindness for others in the classroom, school, or at home. Have students journal about their experiences.
v Dedicated Donations: Collect canned goods for a food drive, new or gently used toys, or clothes to be donated!
vPay it Forward: Teach students about the concept by explaining “You pay it forward by doing something for the next person you meet whose need you can fulfill.” Check out this article on more ideas: http://www.marcandangel.com/2012/05/25/60-selfless-ways-to-pay-it-forward/
v Commit to taking care of our world and showing LOVE to our environment:
v Compliment Cheer: Have designated times throughout the day where students compliment each other.
v Bouquet of Hearts: Have students write “Ways to Show LOVE” or “What is LOVE to Us” on heart
cutouts that you tape up on paper [flower] stems in a designated area in the classroom.
v Qualities of LOVE Mobile: Patient, Kind, Not Boastful, Not Proud or Rude, Not Envious.  Have
students write about specific examples that exemplify these qualities.
v LOVE Never Ends Chain: On paper strips have students write all the different ways they respect
people’s feelings, differences, ideas, and opinions. Put up chain around classroom.
v Famous Love Songs: Shared Readings, Fill in the Blanks, Re-Create your own with those as models.
Ex: “All You Need is LOVE,” “Put a Little LOVE in Your Heart,”

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only LOVE can do that.”
